Venice Film Festival 2010
The line-up for the Venezia 67 film festival has been announced: The Forgotten Space, a Dutch-Austrian co-production by Allan Sekula and Noël Burch will be presented in the Orizzonti-Section. The four Austrian short films shown in the Orizzonti short film competition include: Shadow Cut by Martin Arnold, Mouse Palace by Harald Hund und Paul Horn, The Future will not be Capitalist by Sasha Pirker and Coming Attractions by Peter Tscherkassky.

Christian Berger wins ASC prize for The White Ribbon
Christian Berger won the top feature film prize for The White Ribbon at the 24th Annual American Society of Cinematographers Outstanding Achievement Awards. The White Ribbon was the first black-and-white film since The Man Who Wasn’t There (2002) and the first European movie since A very Long Engagement (2004) to be awarded this major distinction for cinematography. Christian Berger is also Oscar-nominated for best cinematography.

Two Oscar nominations for The White Ribbon
Michael Haneke’s The White Ribbon , which won the Palme d’Or and EFA Awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film has been chosen for the shortlist in the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar category. Moreover director of photography Christian Berger was nominated for Best Cinematography.

Der österreichische Film ist beim Toronto Film Festival (9. bis 19. 9.) mit Barbara Eders Inside America sowie den Koproduktionen Outbound, Tender Son und Poll vertreten. Poll, eine deutsch-österreichisch-estnische Koproduktion von Chris Kraus feiert ihre internationale Premiere in der Reihe Special Presentations.

Mit Inside America von Barbara Eder sowie Mein Haus stand in Sulukule von Astrid Heubrandtner feiern zwei Produktionen ihre internationale Premiere. Insgesamt sind mit Kick Off(Hüseyin Tabak), Adrienn Pál (Ágnes Koscis) und Tender Son (Kornél Mundruzcó) fünf (Ko-)Produktionen in den beiden Wettbewerben von Sarajewo vertreten.
Outbound, eine Koproduktion der Aichholzer Film in Locarno
