Austrians at the 66th Cannes Film Festival (May 15 to 26)

The 66th edition of the Cannes festival (May 15 to 26) will present two films coproduced with Austrian support: Claude Lanzmann’s THE LAST OF THE UNJUST (Out of Competition) and Rebecca Zlotowski’s GRAND CENTRAL (Un Certain Regard). Another three films have booked a screening at the Marché du film. See the screening dates

NYON 2013: OMSCH wins Buyens-Chagoll Prize
Edgar Honetschläger’s witty dialogue with his 100-year-old neighbour conquered the festival audience and the jury members: OMSCH was awarded the Buyens-Chagoll Prize.
MORE THAN HONEY wins Lola for Best Documentary
The Swiss-Austrian-German co-production MORE THAN HONEY by Markus Imhoof was awarded the Deutscher Filmpreis for Best Documentary. The alarming documentary on the widespread disappearance of honey bees was coproduced by Vienna based Allegro film, zero one film (Germany) and Thelma Film (Switzerland).
The Dead and the Living wins Premio Cineuropa
Barbara Albert's feature on a young woman who digs up a family secret by finding out about her grandparents' past during the Nazi period was awarded the Premio Cineuropa at the 14th Lecce Festival del Cinema Europeo.
Austrian Films at Nyon and Buenos Aires
The Austrian lin-up for the Nyon festival comprises OMSCH by Edgar Honetschläger as part of the main competition, ELEKTRO MOSKVA by E. Tikhonova & D. Spritzendorfer, MY FATHERS, MY MOTHER AND ME by Paul-Julien Robert and DEBTS INC by Eva Ecker are selected for the Etat d’Esprit section.
AMOUR wins Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film
